Arkansas' water has been an integral component to its residences for hundreds of years. From the sacred hot springs that flow through what was once known as "The Valley of Vapors" to the millions of gallons of water used for irrigation; water helps define Arkansans.
Even though more than 125 rivers and streams in Arkansas have been listed by the State and EPA as impaired, clean water is still abundant in Arkansas. As past generations were dependent upon Arkansas' water resources, future generations will be too.
Water is a precious resource and a key to the quality of life, industry, and recreation for all Arkansans. It is imperative that we protect this resource through monitoring and stewardship activities.
